Coming to
North Somerset
The Outpost is a pioneering, nature-based day service in the Mendips AONB and North Somerset countryside, dedicated to supporting young adults with learning disabilities.
Moving away from traditional indoor care settings, the service is based in spacious, fully equipped forest hubs and uses a therapeutic, nature-based approach.
By combining hands-on activities such as navigation, horticulture, and outdoor living with practical life skills and sensory wellbeing, The Outpost provides a calm and unhurried environment where small groups can build confidence, develop independence, and form meaningful friendships outdoors.
Why Choose The Outpost?
At the heart of The Outpost are three key principles that guide our approach.

Nature-Based Experiences
Meaningful outdoor activities that encourage wellbeing, curiosity, movement, and connection with the natural world. By engaging in purposeful, hands-on tasks, individuals develop practical life skills while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of being outside.

Small Supportive Groups
Smaller group sizes allow for personalised support, stronger relationships, and a more relaxed social environment. This focused attention also enables positive risk-taking—safely managed to encourage real-world resilience and personal growth.

Calm, Unhurried Environment
A quieter pace helps reduce overwhelm and creates space for individuals to feel comfortable, regulated, and confident. Our person-centred approach ensures young adults can go at their own pace and lead their own unique developmental journey.
